(Key words of the Paper)
With specialist materials supplied by MC Bauchemie Muller GmbH & Co KG from
Germany and technical input for concrete mix designs, production supervision and
quality assurance support by WAK Consultants Pte Ltd, over 700,000 m3 of
Performance Specified (Durability) Concrete has been delivered with full compliance.
This paper looks at the specification development, changes from project to project to
specify durable waterproof concrete. The paper then continues to show how on-site
supervision, training and monitoring enabled large volumes of totally compliant
concrete to be produced. The paper examines the particular problems in Singapore
of aggregate supply and the variability of quality over relative short time frames and
the results that can occur if quick corrective action is not taken.
Experiences and lessons learned in one of the largest civil developments in
Singapore in recent years is shared as a case study, in an ongoing development of
the process of specifying, production and application of Performance Specified
Concrete in the general industry.
