Sandcrete blocks have been in use in many nations of the world particularly West Africa and Asia where they have been adopted as important walling elements in the building and construction industry. This paper investigates the enhancement of the compressive strength of sandcrete blocks using 5mm, 10mm, and 15mm single size aggregates as a partial replacement of sand in the sand cement mortar mix. A special mix using 10mm and 15mm coarse aggregates in 1: 1 proportions is also investigated. Results obtained showed compressive strength values of sandcrete blocks being increased by over 48 percent at 28 days. Furthermore, sandcrete blocks made with fine aggregate replaced partially with 5mm, 10mm, 15mm and mixed coarse aggregate in varying proportions can be used for loadbearing purposes.
