Theme: "A Smart and Sustainable World in Concrete and Structures”
On 29-31 August 2018, OWICS will celebrate its 43rd successive year. The conference will be dedicated to Mr Mark Sarkisian, Partner, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, in recognition and appreciation of his significant contribution and support over the last decade. Mark has developed innovative structural solutions for more than 100 international building projects, including some of the tallest buildings ever constructed. A world-renowned leader in the design of high performance seismic and environmentally responsible structural systems. He teaches, publishes, and lectures frequently around the world. As part of the celebrations Mark will deliver the OWICS 2018 Lecture. Associate Professor K C Gary Ong
The theme will be “A Smart and Sustainable World in Concrete and Structures”.
The OW18 conference will feature at least 10 prominent renown professors and professionals, many of whom have supported OWICS for over 15 years like G M Sabnis, USA; Yogesh Chhabra, Willie Kay and Kiat-Huat Seow, Singapore; Franco Mola, Italy; Shoji Ikeda and N Otsuki, Japan.
At OWICS 2018, Emeritus Professor Seng Lip Lee, Dr C T Tam and Ms Peggy L P Teo (Secretariat) will set a record of 41 years of attendance at this series of conference.
The OW18 Conference will continue the 12 ‘Highly Commendable Paper' Awards sponsored by the Support Organisations and the Industry. Among the twelve are FOUR special Awards in the memory of our good friends, the late Tibor Javor (Czech), late Ken Francis (Hong Kong),the late HoePeng Lim (Singapore) and the late C R Alimchandani (India).
